Ideas for Role-Plays Empty
PostSubject: Ideas for Role-Plays   Ideas for Role-Plays Icon_minitimeWed Apr 16, 2014 9:35 pm

I have three ideas for role-plays and I'm putting them in the intermediate because it's the half-way point. I'm good with them being advanced if you want.
I am interested in fairly open ended role plays that allow the players to move in the direction they want with some guidance

1.
Gliese: A Space Roleplay
On the edge of the solar system sits a series of five planets that orbit their own sun. According to NASA Gliese has all the makings of another Earth. Several probes were sent after the first one and they explored small sections of different areas of the planet.
The probes discovered the Gliese has water trapped in ice, it has large bodies of water, as well as rivers, lakes, etc. It has continent sized landmasses, mountains (some very high), jungles, forests, various kinds of trees and animals. The atmosphere mimics Earth's and the gravity is similar.
The differences seem small; the planet is wider and it's year is 458 days (a day is 26 hours long).
After three years (Gliesean years) of probe readings it was decided to send a craft to the planet to start habitation. This decision was controversial as many in the scientific community felt more study was needed to make certain of the planet's safety.
These scientists were, for the most part, ignored by governments, business leaders, etc. There was too much profit to be possibly gained and this was too important to be blocked by overly cautious worry warts.
Samramin Corp has sent a habitation team to explore the area and attempt to set up a colony.

Character Sheet
Name
Age
Position in the Team
Physical Description
Personality
History

You can be anything from security, to science, to command, to ordinary colonizer. Age is also fairly open, but stay away from too young (or old it's unlikely they'd send a 70+ year old man or woman on this trip).

More information can be supplied to anyone interested in trying this rp

Asthera

Medieval Fantasy RP

These are the lands of Asthera, a place of primal magic force. There was a time when those born with the ability to wield that force were revered by all. They could expect a lifetime of only the best of everything life had to offer. But then one day, a generation ago, all of that changed, for on that day every last person who could call forth the powers of magic, from the lowliest apprentice, to the most powerful Arch-Mage disappeared. No signs of foul play, no rushed packing, it was as if they all simply put all their things away, locked their doors and quietly walked off the stage of history.

At first the people who relied on, and paid for the services of those wizards were confused, then worried, for it was the wizards that assured a full crop, and brought the rain when it was needed most; that doused flames with a gesture, to keep a house from burning; that uplifted the flagging spirits, and soothed the wounded soul. As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, a sense of quiet panic began to set in, and so it was with great joy that people started to hear rumors of children manifesting the gift of magic. How short sighted they were.

The very first reports of a new mageling coming into his power came from the city of Dawn's Bay. The only survivors were the crew of a fishing boat, that was found over a mile inland. They recounted the tale of how all the notables of the city had brought the young boy to the docks. At first asking nicely, then demanding that he call the fish so that the fishers could fill their nets "I saw when the Mayor had his fill of waiting, and struck the boy" said the shocked captain. "That's when it happened, the sea herself rose up in a great wave that washed all of Dawns Bay away".

The details were different, but the story always the same, children coming into there power, with no one to teach them how to control it, unleashing havoc on themselves, as well as everyone, and everything around them.

That was 20 years ago. Now when someone starts showing signs of talent they are hunted, and killed, or driven into exile where they can do no harm. As you are being hunted, as you are being driven! Some lucky few have a friend who will not abandoned them, or parents who equip them as best as they can to help them escape, but for every story like this you find another where false friends turn the poor soul in for a reward, or a zealous father leading the lynch mob.

The Story Begins in Summerset:

The town of Summerset, is a sad and desperate place. It once was a prosperous sea port, with sheltering cliffs to provide safe harbor from storms. Great trade vessels brought in goods from up, and down the coast, and across the Golden Sea, then left again, laden with timber from the nearby forests.

All of that changed one day when an earthquake rocked the coastline, and sent the left cliff face sliding into the mouth of the bay, leaving it choked. The great ships docked at the time were trapped, only smaller ships, or those with shallow drafts could make the passage to sea now. Without the trade, the wealth of the city dried up, and as time passed those that could left the city. Now the population has dropped to about one third of what it was, leaving much of the town abandoned, and the name doesn't even appear on many modern maps.

In the last two years however Summerset has seen a resurgence of sorts, though a dark one to be sure. Bandits, and slavers follow the old trad road into town now, to fence their ill gotten goods, and buy supplies. Ships once again sail in and out of the bay; thin, fast ships, used by pirates, and smugglers. The many empty buildings are quickly being turned into taverns, brothels, and illicit shops where one may find anything, form forged documents, to drugs, and poisons.

It is in just such a place that many young wizards try to shelter, for most of the people here are reluctant to draw the attention apprehending a wizard would bring, as most of these people have a price on their head themselves.

All Magic in this Role-Play is Elemental. (If interested I will explain the pluses and minuses of each Elemental Sphere. And yes, they all have ill-effects)
