Reposting from elsewhere-

It appeared suddenly, as if the lights were thrown in it's face. It revealed itself to be a bloated head, with huge hollows for eyes leading to two pulsating points that spurted blood down it's haggard face. The mouth was taped shut in a 'x' pattern, indenting slightly in the middle as if it had swollen up in the middle. A few strands of hair laid on it's oily hair.

The next second, it was gone. The second after that, a blur a motion and the embrace of thick wire around my neck.

The lights went out.

repost from elsewhere, the goblin putting his dailylife in its place now

in fact, the goblin was still fearing the probability of pole shift now, saying "...the magnetic field depends on some external factor seeing that the earth's core is merely a liquid, magnetic south is geographic north and actually points to greenland, so the real question here is how much our approaching the galactic equator is going the effect things now, be that either through external radiation, which I don't think it is, or just by proximity, which seems far more likely but either way the goblin, either way something tells me it's time to think a little deeper than dailylife now..."

"...not sure myself..." replied the goblin recovering from his cold, but now a bit worried in fact that the american administration, was just following the spanish empire in 17th century down her road to ruin here, adding "...well, the parallel is clear enough, I mean same fervor at the top, same problem of logistics, same high cost too, where slowly demoralization creeps in, troops go unpaid or ill equipped, mutinies within the ranks, and final pullout, at the cost of her empire, for if spain had cut her loses at the start, she wouldn't have paved the way for the french empire first, followed by the british empire after that...", simply spain had the new world with an almost unlimited supply of silver at the time, concluding "...so if spain with its unlimited finance couldn't defeat the various states in the netherlands, how could it be possible be then, that america, with a trillion dollar debt at this point, can somehow subdue the afghanistan tribes indefinitely here...", simply, that same old writing was on the wall again, and it still read "pull out or bleed on"

repost from elsewhere, the goblin settling the score about his not roleplaying

"...ah now, I like your posts humans, and am well fed on them too..." said the goblin, feeling he should mention roleplaying here, adding "...actually I've never really been interested in roleplaying as such, no, I've nothing against it now, just it often turns into an excuse for writing, I mean if one really wants to write, then why not just do without needing some excuse to write, where if you're any good the readers will just read you, and your "hit count" will reflect your readership...", in fact, a real bore for the goblin was coming across that line in threads, reading "I'm roleplaying because I want to become a writer", making the goblin utter "...ok, so you've roleplayed enough, what's your next step then, "live writing" in your posts perhaps, now that would be daring of you..."

repost from elsewhere, before it failed again

"...ah xxxxx, nice to meet you and to know that there is someone smart enough to merit my staying now..." replied the goblin seeing that things might become clearer, saying "...posts are born of posts are they not, so people's comments, their heckles, or whatever, get replied to first somewhat crudely between brackets here, where I then store my reply elsewhere to edit it later into something more to my liking adding a picture too, meaning presto, another "live writer's" post then...", meaning too, that unlike most people who probably couldn't remember what they posted last week, the goblin had a body of posts by now, a known username, and a readership on par with a small book, adding "...ah, but I get banned a lot too, where sites do fold on me as well, so it's just as well that I store across sites to keep my stuff safe, so now you know all then, no big deal here, just a writer's folly perhaps, something to show for my years of posting then..."

repost from elsewhere,

the goblin was enjoying the replies here and would just read whatever anyone posted anyway, and yet somehow that voice in the back of the goblin's mind seemed miles away as if asking that one question again "...so goblin, what's it to be then, so does one support "the south" here, well, isn't that what those americans are asking themselves too, ah but what is "the south" to them where it is not what went before either..."

"...hi..." said the goblin again, his first post here it seemed, and aware that he was amongst others here who had probably heard of the "live writing" scene on this internet now, explaining "...ask yourself, for each poster who actually reads an entry in your blog, how many more will read this post here...", to which, since many more people would read shared threads than individual blogs, the answer simply was "many", explaining "...perhaps then we need a random thread where each of us can contribute together, a round table then..." the goblin paused, sipped his coffee, and then dived into something else, saying "...so back in the victoria age, it wasn't books that they most readers were eager to read, no, I mean neither dickens and doyle actually kept people on tentahooks with books, it was with episodes in journals, that golden age of victorian journals no less, and today what have we now...", and with that the goblin left off with a smile, knowing that either the others, if they replied at all, would either argue content, or attack his persona, but "live writers" usually kept it to under ten lines max, they wrote in their posts, where their readership often rivaled a small book much as the goblin's did

repost from elsewhere

the poster had correctly guessed the publisher's game then, so the goblin felt he should explain it further, saying "...well, for just matched posts alone, about100 thread pages, where adding up their number it's around 1500 posts...", which was entirely irrelevant, and meant nothing where one was anonymous, adding "...but, why change that, why bother to print or publish ones works, and be at the mercy of some publisher only to be discarded in a few years time then, I mean those rascals don't want any long term successes, well bar their own one or two main authors now, so it just remains "short term profit" from the rest of us, it's all rigged, where simply you're their best seller one year and forgotten the next, like so many writers before you now, just as it is for the music industry too, where no one actually stops to remember of what happened to "last year's star" then...", so the goblin wrote for himself alone, where being anonymous was ample proof of that now, save that the "live writer's" scene was advancing here, he only had to look at the others now where once he had been alone

Endless Mistrust
Curse you crows on better branches
Who leave us owls with lesser chances
Who made us creatures of this night
Always in fear of your daytime strike
But in the dark you cannot see
The owl that swoops upon thee.

Curse you owls in your hidden nest
Who stork us crows as we do rest
Who made us creatures of this day
Always in fear of your nighttime play
But in the light you cannot stop
The crows that group to drop.

The half-breed stepped out from her hallow tree. She despised leaving her cozy underground home. Already she missed the tangle of roots from the ceiling, the sweet aroma of sap. Longing for her cozy moss bed and miles of books, she sat down on the dewy ground and looked above her at the forest canopy.
"How long have I been in the underneath?" She asked retorically, for that was what she called her little home. "I've missed so much. So many new members!" She sighed. "Perhaps I shall never catch up."
With this she stood, dusted herself off, and walked away, somehow managing to dissapear in a mist that surely hadn't been there two seconds ago.

repost from elsewhere, the UK elections

"...are we not well fed here then..." said the goblin, suspecting that the big difference between the UK and the USA, in the elections, was that the former risked "same'ism" whichever party came to power, whereas the latter risked "extremism", that of more socialism under president obama, or fascism under lady president palin or whoever then, saying "at least for the brits, like in that aesop fable, are only voting between "king logs" here, whereas america will be voting between "king storks" now..."

There came at tinkling sound from not far off. The half-breed stepped back into the conversation.
She aknowleged the goblin's complement and replied "as do you", then proceded to sit a bed of moss. She smiled and nodded at the goblin's wise words, then allowed her mind a small time to wander.
The half-breed thought back to her last post. Indeed, she had rather liked that one herself, though she could not be to credit for it.
The half-breed stopped zoning out long enough to catch up with the conversation, when an annoying buzzing came to her attention. Nobody else seemed to notice it, so she ignored it for a while. Then it came to her that this endless frustration was in her own mind. On a site miles away, the half-breed had been playing brain games, or rather, training her brain.
Indeed, so far it had been working out rather nicely. She found herself steadily growing more intelligent and well-thought out. Many of the half-breed's at-home problems had been solved since she started training three days earlier. To top it off, she had been writing more profoundly, which was why she refused to take credit for her earlier post.
The half-breed looked back at her typing and smiled. "Quality over quantity", her mother always said. Yet still the half-breed did not find the length of her masterpeice satisfactory. Indeed, there is a point-and a very precise one at that- where there is neither too little nor too much of a good thing. The half-breed felt she had not reached it yet, but still was cautious, for she did not want to soil her new-found skill with length. Thus she stood, and- completely forgetting the company she was in- entirely disapparated on the site.

the goblin too, was careful about length, feeling that ten to twelve lines was best, where one could also break the post into two of three even, since the reader could follow if one started the post with repetition of the situation as in "still here, still seated in the bistro" or more bluntly wrote into the title "continuation from previous post", etc., saying "...it's a compromise, the longer ones post, the more one is asking of readers, who will read one long post once in a while but whose hearts will sink if its long each time...", but then the other trick was to add a picture too, knowing that curiosity is a big pull here, so the picture had to be connected to the topic in some way, yes, but the picture also had to be eye catching too, where the last line on the text subtlety connected that picture, or contrasted it to the text as some dress statement would perhaps

repost from elsewhere, the "what are you doing" thread

the goblin as always has been neatly arranging those deckchairs on the titanic again, since he knew that the ship might not actually sink in his lifetime, so there he was, still working/living as usual, while ever more evidence of the forthcoming ice age just piled up around him, "...ah, but none of this could be true because the media would have told one by now, wouldn't they..." went the goblin in some self reassurance here, but the media was not in the business of seeding panic here, and besides, who would then arrange deckchairs if everyone know there was no time left now

The half-breed was back from her adventure, sporting her new sword. Indeed, one wonders about a half-elfish pirate. Still, the half-breed had to admit- it was original. That was what she was all about. pirat
The half breed had been reluctant at first, to join the pirates. They seemed so undignified and cruel. Still, she slowly grew used to them, and even befrended a few. She learned that piracy had a rich history, and she learned to appriciate it.
Some may argue that piracy is indeed a sin, but the half-elf did not see it that way. She was in it for the adventure. She didn't enjoy the fighting that came along with it, but she respected people when they decided it was time to fight.
It was not the treasure that held her to piracy, either. It was the history behind it.
The half-breed had always enjoyed excitement, another thing that bound her to piracy. It wasn't and easy job, it was challenging.
That's what the half-breed had been building up to---- the challenge.
Challenge that never left her wanting more. Challenge that bound her very heart and soul to piracy.

.

O to be a pirate
O to be a pirate and sail the seventy keys
To coast around that fate and those authorities
Who tag our every habit while visiting a site,
Me, a pirate then, to slip beneath their sight.

I know that there's bounty just as there is bait,
But is it really up to me to differentiate,
Between a subversive cooperate hype
That kills this sea with copyright,
And a question for the road:
"So they know what you download?"

Luck was with the half-breed today. She had come across a book entitled: The Pirate's Code Guidelines.
It was a tedious read, but it was well worth it. However, the spelling was more or less midevil, so it threw her now and then.
Slowly, the half-breed was learning more and more than she had ever thought she would about pirates.
Some things she found facinating, others more neadrithalic than anything she'd ever imagined. It excited her so.
