Sudden Vanishings

The kingdom of Otiun has always been relatively peaceful. Surrounded by natural walls, it has remained separate from the rest of the world. It has been a place for people of all genders, races, and species to coexist. They are separated into tightly knit tribes with relaxed trade and territory laws. A few skirmishes will disrupt the calm from time to time, but there have been no serious conflicts for over a hundred years.

Recently however, people have begun to vanish. No one has found any explanation for the disappearances, and the people that go missing have not been found. Those who wish to continue living in tranquility are turning a blind eye, insisting that the missing people have simply decided to leave for other countries or fell victim to some sort of natural accident. Others are not convinced.

There seems to be no pattern as to who it is that shows up missing. Children, parents, couples, recluses, loving and mean-spirited people all have disappeared with no explanation. The only thing that seems to tie the disappearances together is the strange behavior that the people exhibit right before they vanish. People who have been close to those that have gone missing have reported that they seemed unusually apathetic in the days before they vanished. They had stopped grooming themselves, worried little about nourishment, and seemed to distance themselves from the ones they loved. When concerned friends or family went to check on them, they would find the house empty.

The Missing’s houses are always the same. There is no sign of struggle or distress. It appears as if they simply got up and left. There are never any fresh tracks outside the house for anyone to follow. Nothing is ever missing from the houses that would suggest a trip. They are left stocked with food, clothes and precious valuables.

A meeting has been set to discuss the disappearances in the kingdom’s capitol of Imentum. People from every tribe are gathering, hoping to find some clue as to what has happened to their friends and family. There have been rumors that the king himself will be there to make a statement. There is even talk of assembling a group of skilled warriors and trackers to discover the source of the disappearances.

Hoping to be chosen for this special task force, many of the kingdom’s best are gathering in Imentum. Will they be able to stop these mysterious vanishings before the whole kingdom disappears?

Please state your interest here. We will create an OOC thread once we have a couple of members interested to post characters. Characters can be any race or species. You can make up your own species as long as you give a detailed description of it for the other players. Remember to restrict your character's strength and abilities; we don't want any one person being too powerful.

This sounds like a good bit of fun. I'd stretch the legs of a couple of other characters that don't get enough of an airing. Consider me in.

Let's wait for one more and I'll put the OOC up. Feel free to go ahead and work on your characters or brainstorm with each other and stuff.
