PostSubject: Foreign Sentence Dub   Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:35 am

So, the object of this game is fairly simple. Once a week, I will post a sentence in a foreign language. It is your job to incorrectly dub this sentence. Happy mistranslating! :3

Servus dominum nec ferro poterat movere nec auro.

I think it means: (incorrectly of course, granted I don't know latin)

Goofy has fallen down a well and the Easter Bunny has killed Santa Clause! Oh no!

xDDDD

My turn. (Still incorrectly. This is French, btw.)

Genies fight with joy and javelins. They sing songs of war!

Yay for incorrect translations!

The boys fill the guants of the javiln. They have three bells.

We need someone to tell us what it really says so we can see how close we are to the real meaning!

Servus dominum nec ferro poterat movere nec auro.

The servant is able to influence the master neither with iron nor gold. (Latin)

Les jeunes filles jouent dans la jardin. Elles sont très belles.

The young girls play in the garden. They are very beautiful. (French)

NEW ONE!!!

Multos in bello gladio superabo. Etinim iram inimicorum movebo!

(Anyone else feel free to add one. I only know French and Latin. xD )

Multos in bello gladio superabo. Etinim iram inimicorum movebo!

Matzos are beautiful in the glad superbowl. The itinerary irritates 'em to move to the cove!

(Ah the joys of mistranslating latin and not being penalized for it. I'm in Latin 3, so let's see how well I translate this without a dictionary..."I will overcome many swords in battle. And then I will move the enemies to anger!" How close was I?)

(Eh, it's more like, "I will overcome many people in war with the sword. And indeed, I will move (influence) the enemies with wrath (anger)!" So. . . you were pretty close. Just notice that Multos and gladio don't agree, so they can't go together. :3 )

Pourquoi est-ce que je suis moi? Je voudrais être comme vous!

(Awesome! I did pretty good for not having used a dictionary at all! XD I'm pretty sure I would have gotten closer if I'd gotten off of my lazy butt to use a dictionary. Now just think about what I'll be able to do in two years when I get out of Latin 5!)

Re Savfantasy's French statement:
Pour quarts of Este-lauder crap into your mom. Let's see if she'll kill you when she get's sick.

Re Shiva's...statement:( I'm guessing Chinese)
We now say so long to years of your face!

And I think of the fine initiative of fire.
But that doesn't make sense.
So I thought. . . Ah!
My conscious stops thought.

I painted a picture that is fair
Though it is not my idea
It is pretty nevertheless
I know, it's pretty.
